About Us:

sagelandsvineyard.jpg (4170 bytes)By developing key growing areas in Washington State's Columbia Valley, Sagelands Vineyard produces distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Called the "Four Corners," these areas are Wahluke Slope, Horse Heaven Hills, Rattlesnake Hills and the Walla Walla Valley. Strong grower relationships and the latest viticultural techniques allow Sagelands to take advantage of each vineyard's unique strengths and character to produce wines that are more complex, rich and balanced than any single component.

Located at the western gateway to Yakima Valley's Wine Country, Sagelands' tasting room presents not only stunning wines but also panoramic views of the valley and Mount Adams.

sagelandswinery.jpg (5119 bytes)Our philosophy is based on blending grapes from selected vineyards and using traditional winemaking techniques. The resulting wine is a mosaic more complex, richer and balanced than any of its parts.

We believe that the growing areas that surround our winery in Washington State's Columbia Valley are best suited for the classic varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Known as the Four Corners, these areas are Wahluke Slope, Horse Heaven Hills, Rattlesnake Hills and the Walla Walla Valley. Because our goal is to produce the best possible wine, we focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Our long-term contracts for grapes from the Four Corners ensure consistent quality and value.

sagelandswinebottle.jpg (3009 bytes)Following traditional winemaking techniques, we not only blend grapes from different vineyards but different varietals. For our Cabernet Sauvignon we add the traditional Bordeaux varietals of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, to add complexity. Our Merlot benefits from a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

The old saying, "Wine is made in the vineyards" is still true. But by blending the fruit from several different vineyards, we can take advantage of each vineyard's unique strengths and character for each vintage. This allows us to make distinctive wines that deliver great value.
